Apple iOS 17 photo app can recognize pets: can distinguish two different orange cats
On June 7th, it was reported that Apple has improved iPhone's image recognition capability in the iOS 17 system, and photo apps can now recognize not only people but also pets.
The "People" album in the previous photo application has now become the "People and Pets" album because the photo application can already detect animals. If you only have one or two photos of a certain animal, they will not appear in this album, but if you have multiple photos of the same animal, you will see the pet in the album. You can add a name to the pet and confirm other photos. In this album, you can see all the photos you have taken of this animal, and it also allows you to see special memories about this pet in the "Recommended for You" section.
The pet recognition function seems to be very accurate, able to distinguish different animals with the same color, such as correctly distinguishing two white cats, two orange cats, and two striped cats, without errors, and the application can better identify specific species.
Apple has also added a Visual Look Up feature for food in the iOS 17 photo app, which can provide recipes for similar dishes and provide relevant information when removing a certain image theme from the background. The Visual Look Up feature now also supports videos.
