13th generation Core standard pressure VS Apple M2

For laptop users, choosing between Windows or Mac OS seems to always be a controversial topic. Although in terms of shipment volume, Apple's MacBook has a low proportion in the entire market, both have their own advantages in terms of user experience. In the past, because both used Intel Core processors, they could be referred to together. However, since Apple self-developed the M-series chip, its performance has been difficult to directly compare with Intel processors.
Fortunately, Geekbench is a software that allows for cross platform performance comparison of processors. Today, let's take a look at which of the latest 13th generation Core standard voltage processors has stronger performance compared to Apple's M2 chip. Because it is a lightweight platform and the available models are limited, we only chose the i7 and i9 H-series processors instead of the stronger HX series processors.
Firstly, looking at multi-core performance, Apple's M2 has only 8 cores, which is a significant disadvantage compared to the 13700H and 13900H with 14 cores. The score of 9759 is about 7% behind the i7-13700H and about 30% behind the i9-13900H.

Looking at the single core score, the i9-13900H score is 2717 points, which is about 5% ahead of M2's 2576 points, while M2's lead is also around 5% compared to i7-13700H, and the difference is not significant. After all, M2 uses a more advanced 4nm process with higher integration.

Overall, although Apple's M2 has been overshadowed in terms of performance, we also need to consider power issues. The TDP of the Apple M2 should only be 30W, while the i7-13700H and i9-13900H both start at 45W by default, and the peak power consumption can reach over 60W. Coupled with the gap in the number of cores, stronger performance is also natural.
If viewed according to the standards of Geekbench 6, Apple's M2 chip is on par with the mainstream mid to high-end CPUs in the Windows camp at the single core level. Multi core is limited by the number of cores, and falls far behind, estimated to be at the i5-13500H level.
However, the advantage of M2 is clearly not in terms of performance. Thanks to the excellent optimization and scheduling of Apple's Mac OS, the MacBook Air can easily achieve much longer battery life than Windows laptops, which is clearly an important reason why many users choose it.
