When users try to 'get help' on Win10, Microsoft will now display Teams advertisements
On June 5th, Microsoft has been working hard to promote features, products, and services on Windows 11 or Windows 10. According to GHacks, the latest place for Microsoft to place advertisements is the Get Help application.
When a user opens the Get Help app and may seek help on their PC, a banner about Microsoft Teams Essentials is displayed, along with a link to learn more, which can guide the user to the Microsoft Teams Essentials webpage, but this banner can be manually closed.
The content of Microsoft's advertisement is as follows:
“Use a new conference solution designed specifically for small businesses to improve work efficiency and collaboration while maintaining organization. Learn more”
Users can access the 'Get Help' application by selecting the 'Get Help' link in 'Settings' to learn more about settings or directly launching the' Get Help 'application.
The promotional banner is a bit annoying, as it seems to display the same Teams Essentials advertisement regardless of your setting, even if the theme is completely unrelated to Teams themselves. Therefore, if users want to learn some information about the system, the Teams Essentials link does not provide assistance.
In May of this year, Microsoft also pushed more promotional content in the settings application, which displayed Microsoft 365 advertisements. Previously, advertisements such as Microsoft 365 also appeared on Windows 10 OOBE (IT Home Note: Out of Box Experience).
In April of this year, Microsoft pushed more MSN news and advertisements in its redesigned Windows 11 weather application, but these codes were later removed and replaced with small components.
