Exclusive to Apple Silicon: Some features of macOS Sonoma cannot be used on Intel based Macs
On June 7th, Apple announced the latest Mac operating system macOS Sonoma at yesterday's WWDC 2023 conference, which will be pushed to Mac users this autumn. This update has brought many new features, but as in previous years, some features can only be run on Macs equipped with Apple's self-developed Apple Silicon, and do not support Macs with Intel chips.
Only supports the new features of Apple Silicon chips:
Presenter Overlay: This is a new set of video effects that can place users above shared content to highlight the speaker. When sharing screens, you can choose between large or small overlay layers. The large overlay layer puts you in focus, and your screen content is displayed on another layer next to you. You can move, walk, and speak in front of your content.
React with your hands: Use interesting 3D augmented reality effects to express your reactions, such as heart shapes, colored paper, fireworks, and more. You only need one gesture to share your reaction. This feature is available on Mac built-in cameras equipped with Apple Silicon chips, or when any Mac is used with iPhone 12 and later through the Continuity Camera feature.
Game mode: Automatically gives the game the highest priority of CPU and GPU on your Mac, reducing the use of background tasks. And it significantly reduces the latency of wireless accessories such as AirPods and controllers, allowing you to feel a smoother response. This feature is available on Macs equipped with Apple Silicon, and compatible game controllers need to be used in conjunction with specific games.
Siri: Siri can now wake up when you say 'Siri', which is available on Macs equipped with Apple Silicon chips and AirPods Pro (second generation). Currently, it only supports English (Australia, Canada, UK, USA).
MacOS Sonoma will be open to the public this autumn, supporting Macs with some Intel chips.
