Apple's new iPhone patent approved: Touch ID fingerprint recognition slider button introduced on the right/top
On June 7th, according to a list recently released by the United States Trademark and Patent Office (USPTO), Apple has obtained a technology patent related to Touch ID fingerprint recognition. In this patent, Apple attempted to introduce physical fingerprint recognition on the top and side of the iPhone, in addition to exploring the Touch ID below the screen.
After transitioning from the Home button to a full screen on the Apple iPhone, biometric authentication has also shifted from Touch ID fingerprint recognition to Face ID facial recognition, and the latest patent suggests that Apple will bring Touch ID back in the future.
In addition to the off screen Touch ID solution, in the future, iPhone may also choose to introduce mechanical slider buttons with fingerprint scanners on the right and top of the device. IT Home hereby attaches the patent design sketch as follows:
Apple stated in the patent description that the slider button # 501 is displayed as a mechanical slider button, located on the side of the iPhone (# 100) and can be pressed to move up and/or down. Although not mentioned in the sketch, the patent description states that the button can be placed on top of the device.
