Apple 15-inch MacBook Air disassembly: 256GB basic model with single NAND chip, affecting read and write performance
According to the latest video released by YouTube channel Max Tech, the 256GB storage specification of the 15 inch MacBook Air laptop is only equipped with one NAND chip, which affects read and write performance.
The 15 inch MacBook Air laptop comes in four storage specifications: 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB for users to choose from, while the 256GB model retains Apple's "tradition" and, like the previous Mac mini and 13 inch MacBook Pro, the basic version has lower SSD performance than other specifications.
Apple previously used two 128GB chips in the 256GB version of the Mac, but has switched to a single 256GB chip in the latest model. PFTLCD is attaching the following video:
Since Mac will temporarily use SSD as Virtual memory after using physical memory, slower SSD speed may affect tasks such as file transfer, and affect the overall system performance under heavy workload.
The Apple 15 inch MacBook Air was officially released yesterday (June 13), offering four appearances: midnight color, starry sky color, silver color, and deep sky gray.
