More than 170 containers have been seized! Another batch of cross-border sellers have been kicked out
Recently, there has been another "lightning explosion" incident in the industry.
A large number of fraudulent accounts have been hacked, resulting in the seizure of over 170 containers. This matter has already been highlighted in the cross-border circle! This incident has also sounded a risk warning for all freight forwarding and logistics enterprises!
More than 170 containers have been seized
Recently, multiple American express delivery companies such as UPS and FedEx were undergoing a major overhaul, and a warning called "UPS Risk Reminder" was circulating crazily in the cross-border circle, displaying:
Recently, UPS has carried out a major rectification, strictly investigating issues such as stealing heavy goods and leaking water accounts. If found, it will have a series of serious consequences, such as making up for shipping fees, demoting discounts, and stopping the entire container delivery service of the warehouse. The surface documents printed by the leaking water account may not be scanned online, nor will they be delivered, or may be destroyed. If found to be serious, it may be sued, pursued for relevant legal responsibility, and the delivery warehouse address will be blacklisted.
It is understood that "running water account" refers to a fake account or an account that does not pay. There are freight forwarders who exploit the loophole in UPS monthly settlement, open a shell company registration account, use low prices to crazily solicit goods, or crack UPS's surface order rules by printing false surface orders for shipment.
Under UPS's strict investigation, some freight forwarders have stated that multiple overseas warehouses in Los Angeles have been disqualified from picking up goods by UPS or investigated by the FBI. There are also reports showing that the scope of this detention is very wide. UPS seized more than 170 containers in a single day, and if the account holder cannot be found, they arrested the warehouse personnel.
From the list of running water accounts flowing out of the cross-border circle, it can be seen that multiple accounts have been blacklisted. Currently, UPS is still closely investigating this phenomenon. For warehouses that are suspected to be on the brink, it is necessary to have the UPS manager confirm before submitting the goods, and the address of the problematic warehouse will be permanently blacklisted.
In addition to UPS and FedEx, the US Postal Service is also cracking down on fraudulent accounts. In February, the United States Postal Service submitted a plan to deal with the misuse of false face forms. Shortly thereafter, it was announced that from April 1st, efforts will be made to strengthen the supervision of false face orders. Violators' goods will be confiscated or sold, and if fraudulent behavior is involved, further legal responsibility will be pursued.
Recently, the United States Postal Service and the Postal Inspection Service jointly launched a crime prevention plan, which includes reducing postal robbery and mail theft, preventing address change fraud, and cracking down on fake face orders.
In the fight against fraud, the following measures are taken unilaterally:
- Intercept packages with false labels, and the Postal Service Bureau will fully exercise its new power to collect and handle packages found to have false labels.
- Review the goods outside the post office dock and warehouse.
- Close e-commerce websites and accounts involving the sale of false face orders.
- Engage and cooperate with e-commerce companies to disrupt fraudulent activities.
- Collaborate with Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
- Promote the reward plan of the Inspection Bureau. The plan provides rewards for providing clues to arrest and convict anyone of illegally using, reusing, or forging face sheets, stamps, license imprints, or other face sheets; Or limited to the use, sale, or possession of any used, forged, or false face stamps, aimed at encouraging the public to actively participate in the fight against fraud.
Cross border knowledge has learned that in the fiscal year 2022, the Postal Administration and Postal Inspection Bureau seized over 340000 packages with false labels and over 7.7 million fake stamps, avoiding a loss of $7.8 million.
In addition, USPS will also collaborate with major e-commerce platforms, and subsequent logistics reviews may become more stringent. This is not bad, for sellers, it can reduce the losses caused by some unscrupulous freight forwarders, "one seller said to the end of the US Postal Service.
In summary, the reason why poor freight forwarders take risks is to make more money, and they seem to not care about the adverse effects this operation will bring to the industry.
But for many sellers, this is undoubtedly a foolproof disaster. When UPS, FedEx, and Postal strictly arrest these freight evaders, not only the overseas warehouse addresses will also be blacklisted, and the goods cannot be retrieved. If it is only a small loss, the seller may also accept it, but if the quantity of goods affected is large, the seller's loss will be very large.
Will the freight forwarding industry undergo a major reshuffle this year?
In order to compete for customers, freight forwarders are luring in at low prices and using all kinds of martial arts skills, which has made the already mixed circle of freight forwarders even more turbid, with various types of thunderstorm incidents coming one after another.
In recent years, cross-border e-commerce logistics have experienced frequent disruptions. In addition to low-priced declarations, payment scams, and false face orders, there are also the most common hidden rules of distant and near delivery, which make sellers exclaim: the water of freight forwarders is too deep!
It is understood that the dedicated AGL truck from Meixi Warehouse is very cheap, while a Meidong truck costs several thousand dollars, which earns the freight forwarder a price difference from it.
In addition to the cost of time and manpower, the most crucial thing is that this operation is not allowed by Amazon and is a violation of regulations, which can bring risks to the account.
Based on this, Amazon and other foreign logistics companies recently announced to strengthen the supervision of third-party logistics companies and operators to combat cross-border logistics chaos. This measure means that sellers will face higher compliance requirements and risk challenges.
Amazon recently released a series of new regulations on its logistics service management platform Carrier Central, aiming to strengthen the supervision of third-party logistics companies and operators. This marks a further strengthening of Amazon's scrutiny of cross-border logistics links. If freight forwarders or sellers engage in illegal operations, their accounts may face the risk of being banned.
Logistics chaos has always been a challenge for the cross-border e-commerce industry, not only Amazon, but also other foreign express delivery companies have taken measures to regulate the market. Amazon has introduced a series of policies for the logistics sector to maintain the platform's business environment. These rectification policies include:
- Revise the shipment page to allow sellers to directly view the inventory information of the shipment and understand the specific delivery address;
- Only when the accuracy of the booking manifest reaches 70% or above is qualified to deliver the goods to Amazon warehouse;
- the seller's account has an accuracy rate of less than 70% 4 times within 8 weeks, the operator center account will be suspended;
- Starting from May 1st, the new regulations require cancellations of appointments within 72 hours and PO modifications within 24 hours;
- At the same time, it is required that the attendance defect rate should not exceed 50%, and the PO accuracy rate should not be less than 85%, otherwise the account will face the risk of being banned.
All these rectification measures collectively indicate a major reshuffle in the cross-border logistics industry. Sellers should pay more attention to the strength background and risk resistance of logistics companies, and avoid choosing unreliable freight forwarders due to their desire for low prices. At the same time, buyers should closely monitor the delivery trajectory updates of the goods when using express delivery. If there is no update for a long time, they need to promptly urge follow-up. If the seller's billing account is banned, the goods may face the risk of seizure.
